DESCRIPTION
First Cut Lab RE-ACT is a comprehensive consultancy & training program designed for 4 feature films in editing
phase from Croatia, Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Serbia and Slovenia. Films can be fiction or documentary.
First Cut Lab RE-ACT offers a 4-month trajectory, with activities ranging from editing consultancy
to the acquisitions of skills in marketing, promotion, and audience engagement.
The selected teams (director/producer/editor) are offered a creative framework, both protective & challenging,
where to open up and to explore new artistic perspectives for their films. Participants receive expert
feedbacks on their rough cut from three international film industry advisors, as well as tailor-made advice
from a consultant editor. The are also provided with a memo report that can serve as guidance for
further editing.
These editing consultancy sessions take place between mid-October and mid-November 2022, according to the needs of
each project.
Editor consultants & Industry advisors will be defined according to the profiles of the films selected. Editor consultants will include top notch editors Benjamin Mirguet, Catalin Cristutiu, Agnieszka Glinska, and Maya Maffioli. An overview of regular Industry advisors of First Cut Lab can be found here: http://firstcutlab.eu/people/
But wait, there's more! For the first time this year, the 4 selected feature films taking part in First Cut Lab RE-ACT will have the opportunity to be automatically selected to participate in the First Cut+ Trieste program, taking place from late November 2022 to January 2023. The main goal of First Cut+ is to boost the competitiveness and marketability of feature films. It consists in the promotion of a portfolio of 8 feature films at the stage of post-production.
Before, during, and after their presence at Trieste's When East Meets West, the films are promoted through
complementary activities, ultimately fostering their visibility.
Firstly, the film teams are being offered a series of consultations & lectures given by industry experts in
the field of film promotion. Secondly, a work-in-progress session takes place in front of a selected audience
of industry professionals. Thirdly, each film benefits from an individualized road map & follow-up for sales
and international circulation.
First Cut Lab RE-ACT is made in cooperation and with the financial support of the RE-ACT initiative, notably allowing the absence of tuition fee for the participating projects.
